A Relaxing Albuquerque Itinerary
Sometimes we travel to explore, see new places, experience new things. But sometimes it’s to escape, disconnect from the routines and responsibilities of home, and just relax. If relaxation is what you’re looking for on this trip to Albuquerque, have I got a plan for you!
Let’s start with a little walk and a light breakfast. It’s an easy and beautiful stroll down the block to Blackbird Coffeehouse. Their specialty coffee menu is full of fun, locally inspired flavor combinations. Their green chile quiche is delicious! If the weather’s nice (which it usually is in Albuquerque), their little flower-filled patio is a perfect place to spend a slow, quiet morning chating with a friend or reading a good book.
After breakfast, we’ll head to the spa. There are several great spa options in Albuquerque, but my personal favorite is Betty’s Bath and Day Spa. The space is beautifully designed, the treatments are always wonderful, and the prices are more affordable than the hotel spas in our area. Be sure to book your massage and some time to soak in one of their hot tubs in advance.
Next up, you’ve got to try the local cuisine! For a relaxing New Mexican dining experience, there’s no place better than El Pinto. Their extensive patios are hard to beat, in terms of atmosphere. Their menu is full of local favorites. If you’re not sure whether to try the red or green chile, order both on the side! You really can’t go wrong.
After lunch, how about a glass of wine? There aren’t many places quite as tranquil and relaxing as Casa Rondena Winery. Their tasting room is open daily from noon until 7pm. You can order a glass or a bottle and take it out to sit in their beautiful gardens. They sometimes host a food truck and they always have some little charcuterie-type snacks available. So you can take your time and enjoy the space without feeling the need to rush off if you get hungry again. Honestly, after that big lunch at El Pinto, I’d probably just end my day there at the winery. Maybe you can grab a bottle to take back to the house and enjoy on the patio before bed time.
